I asked Ernie to make my sword handles this way aswell. Will be very durable for sure. I love micarta but I always hated rivets on tactical handles. Now i can have tactical durability in classic look lol.

I couldn't tell exactly what he was using from the video, but it's Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Home Depot level stuff, I think.
That's a pretty awesome upgrade on a kuk.

Just now saw this thread, don't hit this subforum often.
Not usually a fan of micarta, but this one turned out pretty well. I like it.
It was especially interesting to see what lies beneath on a typical HI kuk. "Stick tang" my foot.

This video is similar to what it was. Making micarta handle without using rivets. Other 2 videos were very detailed step by step however this gives the idea. After making the micarta handle, he lets it dry and then shape it and polish it with a belt sander.

The idea on the video of the topic was making micarta handle without using rivets but roll the fabric around the tang. Micarta handle without pins or rivets look awesome.

ive used crashes micarta tutorial method a bunch of times with varying degrees of success, most recently with newspaper instead of material which i think turned out really cool, i used regular fibreglass epoxy resin to do it, also tried out casting resin and wouldn't recommend it, also think its a great method for beginners as you dont have to make it perfect to start with you can bulk it out and grind it back
