here are a couple of pics of a hollowground longsword I've just finished. its defiantly not perfect. i was experimenting was my first hollow grind, raiser, ring-guard,hand carved pommel and first time working with rayskin. overall im pretty happy with how it turned out. so check it out tell me what you think. weights about 3 pounds. point of balance is 4" from guard. BTW the pic with the Norsey fantasy sword the pommel and guard were made by Yeshua's sword

Better than any sword I could forge out right now. Either you've got a giant hammer there or one very small anvil. Looks like the anvil hasn't been used in awhile.

Looks really good, but I think antiqued wood or leather would have been better for the grip :geek: . I definitely understand your choice of ray skin though. It's always fun to test out new styles and techniques.

That really looks like it is 500 years old. The imperfect, wandering grind, dark color and ray skin give it a very authentic feeling. Really like it!! Somewhat unusual for sure.

Is the gap in between the grip and the lobed pommel intentional? Other than that, some sweet looking swords, I'm a big fan of viking hilts

For your first sword, I'd say that's a dam fine blade! Especially if sword making is something you plan on continuing to work on. Mistakes made on this sword you'll learn from and your skill will continue to improve with each sword you make.

Yes i did, at least to the best of my abilities with the tools i have right now. its pretty springy bends up to 45degrees and returns easily, but im just a little worried about bending further then that sense I've only made like 4 swords so far =P

Per SBG rules you have to post an asking price

im not posting it in the classifieds and sense this sword has some imperfections i feel uncomfortable putting a price on it and would like an honest opinion on what people would value my work at

Okay, so you didn't put an asking price because you aren't posting it in the classifieds...but I don't think it's acceptable to solicit sales any ol' place you feel like it. (I could be wrong, though; I haven't been around all that long...and I'm not a sword maker)

fine its not for sale then. just figured here is a alright place to offer it if anyone was interested sense its made by an amateur and in the classified its mostly professional/production swords and i only didnt post a price sense i honestly have no idea what to sell it for, which is why i would like to see what other makers/collectors would offer so i can know in the future what a good and fair price would be
