I have to hide this over here Ulahn brought to my attention a for sale add in a Brit reenactors forum for a Czapska; Polish tradtional cap that was stiffened and militarized in the 18th Century into the mortar board like leather helmet that became synonimus with lancers. This is a replica, which the previous owner, had had suggested to him that it might be movie wardrobe from the Sergei Borndachuk War and Peace and Waterloo epics of the 1966-1970 period. The Polish Lancers had been adopted by Napoleon in 1807. During his pursuit of the Russians to Eylau. From the SPanish Campaign of 1808 to Waterloo the Lancier Polonais fought for Napoleon in every major campaign. Principal weapons were the 8 foot hunting lance and the Chevaux Leger sabre of the Guard. This replica sports a mottled red plume and a gold helmet cord. Incorrect. The regiment all wore white plumes and cords. Officers did wear silver or gold cords but art renderings follow standard orders. Campaign dress usually dispensed with the flufferie. Helmets were wrapped in oilcloth and troopers had cape-coats in their kit. Napoleons Guard was elite in the army and kept their dress kits handy. There were instances where units went into battle in some form of dress uniform. A Lanciers Polonais! Vive L'Empereur! Lest I forget: you'll need to use the print preview key top right of the screen to get all pics viewed at full scale. Cheers

Dave,
Do you have an example of the hunting lance in your collection?

Hadn't considered looking for an 8 foot lance due to space taken up, but heck, I got everything else...

Glad you got it! Empire Costume may have the right cord and plume? Cannot wait to score that 8 foot lance for you. Use it as a centre pole in your party tent! I insist you wear the cap when recieving guests. Cheers.

Empire can provide the parts. 240EU for the cord, 110EU for the plume, 45EU S&H, and a nice 20% EU VAT added.
Maybe next year....
There is a .com out there who has a handful of real Weyersberg Imp German lances with replica pennons. All I have to do is figure out where to park it.
While stumping ebay also picked up half faced regimental guidons for the 1st Lancers and the 1st Grenadier a Pied. Mount someway behind the headgear.

That's serious money. A little bit too serious. And make the VAT 22% as of first of August. Gangsters!

Undaunted by common sense!
Could you identify the other covers/hats/helmets in the "lineup" shot?
