I had no idea as to whether or not to put this here or in the Chinese sword section as it seemed appropriate for both, so I put it here. Can anybody give me good information and photos of and about bronze age weapons of China? I feel like there are some particularly interesting weapons designs from the land of martial arts complexity in the bronze age. In addition to that some possible info on bronze age China's martial systems would be much appreciated.
Please and thank you fellow swordsmen.

One of the best English language books is Yang Hong's Weapons in Ancient China, www.amazon.com/Weapons-Ancient-C ... 7030002237 which, alas, seems to be out-of-print. The classic weapons are ge (dagger-axe), spear, jian, ji (aka halberd, a combination of ge and spearhead), and to a lesser extent axes, bronze dao, warhammers, and maces. For a reasonable summary, see www.travelchinaguide.com/intro/f ... bronze.htm The ge was a really major weapon for a long time. You can find reasonably priced (replica) ge heads on ebay. There was a European bronze age equivalent: the Celtic "halberd". Not to be missed: www.grandhistorian.com/kennethbl ... lberds.pdf For some more pictures, www.swordforum.com/forums/showthread.php?80152For missile weapons, bow and crossbow. Do you count chariots as weapons? For early Chinese martial arts, www.cambridge.org/us/academic/su ... st-century Archery was the dominant early martial art, as far as we can tell.

Archery was probably the first martial art. For as long as there have been bows, people have killed each other with them.

www.amazon.com/dp/046502145X Ancient Chinese warfare by Ralph Sawyer. Pretty much the definitive layman's book on the titled topic. Not specific only to weapons, but to all aspects of warfare. Yes, has pictures; some extrapolation on possible martial techniques. Most information about this period is either archaeological, or passed on through legends.
