While not my usual forte, those gaunt.s look f**king mad mate. Definitely worth a karma. Reminds me of the hand of Sauron(LOTR)off the movie...... or the evil dude from Inspector Gadget . Seriously though, some very fine work you must be very proud.

Thanks for posting the WIP pics. Looks great. I look forward to your review. It should be very interesting. We don't get too many armor reviews on SBG. I would like you to go through some sword drills with a two handed sword and a single handed sword. When you get them post a closeup of the rivets and the straps if its possible. See if you can get a food scale for an accurate weight measure. I hope I'm not imposing too much

Oh hay fellows, sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Going in chronological order.. Yes Chop, I have heard from a fair few friends and associates that the gauntlets have an 'evil' feel over them. I can't really see it as such, though.. I guess I were raised with the idea that evil things are always covered with spikes and horns! Thanks for the karma, by the way. I need to amass some more, lest I might look like an outcast. ( ._. ) Which brings me to the next post.. yes Tsafa, I intend on giving the full shebang on these gauntlets as soon as I receive them. Pictures showing every crevice of these wonders of steel shall be shared to you. I'll weigh them as well, of course. AND do some forms-comparison. Lastly, Brenno... yes, Christmas 2008 is early indeed! Although, I do intend to place another little order from BestArmour in the near future, so that I will receive those during this year as well. I'm eyeing a pair of sabatons.

Shortie update, got a mail again from mr. Marek today that the process have been slightly delayed and will instead be sent this Wednesday. He also promised more WIP pictures on Wednesday. All the more to share.

That's some serious semprini-inducing metalwork.
Are those bolts staying? Or just temporary and being replaced with rivets?

Hello! I've just gotten home from a mid-term vacation and I bring you a little update. I took these pictures before I turned them into a professional leather workshop to sow the leather gloves into them while I were on said vacation and tomorrow, Monday, is the designated day for them to be done! Anyway, these are pictures of how they looked WITHOUT leather gloves sown onto them. And yes Holy Roller, the bolts were replaced with rivets. First picture, the gauntlet to the left lying "belly up" and showing it's interior leather work with the gloves beside them. Second picture, close up of the "belly up" gauntlet. Third picture, a close up of the right gauntlet, showing the back and spines of it. Fourth picture, a very close up of the leatherwork, that is what the leather gloves are intended to be sown unto. The fifth and my favourite picture, showing a point of view vision when looking at them from...well, that particular angle. Look at those shapes! So yes, that is the situation thus far. If everything goes like it should go, I will have a review ready to be done this following week end!

Why did they go through all that work, and then put speed rivets on the fingers? Seems to be an odd choice.

I don't understand how the gauntlet fingers strap to your fingers when you are wearing them. Can you put them on and take some pictures. I can see the wrist and palm strap. They are right where I expect them. Somehow, the gauntlet fingers but attach to your glove fingers so they don't flap around. I had not seen the inside of the guantlets on the weblink you post, or I would have asked sooner.

Tsafa, they won't be flapping around when the leather gloves are sown unto them.
Anyway, provided that they will be all done and ready later today, I'll share some more pictures with you.
Edit: perhaps the problem lies in the lighting of my pictures. You see, the metal plates on the fingers are trimmed with leather. Look on the first of the five new pictures I posted, you can see it on the right side gauntlet. Of course, this is provided that I am understanding your inquiries.

Ok. Now I'm clear. I did not realize that there was some needle work yet to come.

Through an unfortunate (yet not entirely unexpected -.-) turn of events, I today found out that the people I had turned the gauntlets in to didn't want to risk ruining them, as they thought the leather gloves to be too weak to withstand ripping post-sowing. So, it looks like I will have to do it myself as I originally planned to. This might mean some delays on that review folks, as I am quite swamped in things to do already. Anyway, let me know if you want any specific pictures of them and I'll provide.

Are you at all worried about the scales coming off? Two-piece speed rivets, in my experience, are only to be used on non-critical parts (aka straps and such). I am curious why they did not countersink rivets into the finger lames.

Not worried about that at all, actually. The scales are solidly held in place and have not showed any signs of movement from my endless twisting and bending of virtually all of the gauntlets parts.
That, coupled with BestArmours overall excellent reputation makes me feel rather safe on that point.

All right fellas, I am done sewing them in. I'm not too sure if I have done it the right way but they work now at least. Should I have to do it over later it'll be very easy to just remove the sewing thread and start anew! I'll soon begin working on that review I promised you.
