The mail look great. Most are made of aluminum I think which is great for reenactment but not for live blade however.

If you look closely, there is one type that is both historically accurate and purpose-built for combat. And I have looked into making realistic combat-quality maille. It requires a substantial investment in equipment and a HUGE investment in time.
Not that I can afford it now, but $2,000 seems reasonable for a full set of combat maille.

Shooter: In our reenactment group we make our own and it isn't really a huge expense to set it up it just takes a lot of time and effort to construct it.

Bloodwraith, do you guys make wedge-riveted-and-solid-ring maille? I would love to know exactly how to form the components for that.
I'm referring to that best quality historic maille made of 4 solid rings interwoven with one wedge riveted center ring. That's the stuff I would really like to have.

Mike: we don't do the wedge riveted because i believe that came around after the period which we are based in. We use the 4 in 1 pattern but the centre ring is a solid ring. I am not sure why people think that wedge riveted is the best quality historic maille because honestly it depends on the period, i personally really like a combination of maille and llamelar.
