I've always had a flair for mixing things between my various interests. In this case, video gaming has sounded an invasion into my armoury, and this helmet is the result. Forgive me for the flimsy pictures, I've no camera available for use at the moment. Anyway, from drawing inspiration from a certain character in a video game, I embarked on a journey to crown a great helm with a pair of arching pheasant feathers. Through a series of utterly non-historical processes, it is now ready to be worn. It is of course a fantasy piece, as the feathers are not very practical to be crowned with during actual activity.

What is the gage on that Helm? How is the Visibility?

The thickness is 12 Gage (or almost anyway, it's like 1,97 mm) Visibility isn't terrible.. but it isn't great either. It's hard to capture all the little details around myself when I have it on, although I'm no experianced armour-wearer. Anyway, it looks great as a display piece that can be worn on occasion.. I'll most likely go for a visored barbute when the time comes for me to get my 'real' helmet.

12 gage is just as thick as my Helm. It'll take a lot of punishment.

I assume that you meant that it's my helmet that's really cool? (please?) If so, thanks Who's Loki, anyway? Oh and Tsafa - yeah, I know it'll stand up to a lot of punishment, I was really more concerned about the feathers getting destroyed by being beaten upon. Perhaps they can also be grabbed in an up-close wrestling sequence? I can definately be used for correographical fighting though

Lol, if you only knew the things I have seen people attach to their helmets in the SCA. Everything from Flags to Horse Mains. One guy looked like he had a wig on his helmet.

hey Mwab, what kind of rig do you have inside it? I just got a great helm that, while not the same, is quite similar in shape.

Loki was the Norse God of deceit and trickery Interesting helmet ... kindareminds me of a spangenhelm. Personally I've got this scoped out for future use myself. But oh I just hate saving the pennies for it

Mwab, we all know Lu Bu is sexy, but you've missed him by about 1800 years or so...
It's time to let him go. Besides, David Gilmour circa 1970 was SOOOO much cooler ;D

Ooops, didn't notice that this thread actually had some new posts in it, sorry! Thanks for all comments and for enlightening me as to who Loki is/was. Asterix, I've only put some simply foam into it, nothing fancy. I'm not sure as to what foam exactly either, but it's... foamy and soft? And Rammstein, that is indeed a thing I oft mourn... what wouldn't I give to be able to go back in time (for a day or two.. preferrably in specter-mode!) and watched ye great battles of olde... and snatch His armour and halberd when he's asleep! ;D Cool helmet by the way, Centurion! And you too, Elchon. Nice and shiny... before, anyway.

Or to be more precise -If Magneto's helmet wasn't red it would look like this helmet I believe barbutas were long before x-men mutants 100st post-you are a knight now Now try to compete with Rammstein.

I actually think it looks more menacing that way.
Now you should just patina the entire suit blood red. That would be beyond awesome.
