Darkwood armory hss probably the best price:quality as they offer a very cheap unpolished one for ~$425 (when polished it's $650) I really like the Cervenka one in aesthetics, which you can see in the video he links. It's quite pricy for €850, though. Danalli Armouries has a couple of different ones, including a side sword with Schiavona hilt. Which is very pretty, I am not sure about his prices, but it shan't be cheap. IIRC he has a moratorium on orders until September too. Del Tin also has a few in the $690 range.

Can anyone with hands on experience comment on the Schiavoni? I was a long time fan of the claymore (in the sense of the basket hilted broadsword) until I got hands on time with a Cold Steel. That basket was in-SANE-ly bulky. In comparison, the 1822 (three bar) cavalry style guard is positively svelte, and the repro French cutlass's half basket is decidedly less bulky. (I mean, yeah: no kidding?)
Are they that bulky? Does it depend on maker?
The schiavona has always kind of reminded me of a "John Carter of Barsoom" guard.

Hrmph...so there's a Schiavona with a smallsword blade, but no affordable broadsword Schiavona in sight? Or are those just not historically accurate?

I got an old Windlass Schiavona from Bruce Brookhart a while back, but they're long out of production. It's quite a beast, heavy blade and even heavier guard, but I really like it... especially considering there aren't any current models available for less than 3x what I paid for this one. Del Tin seems like the cheapest viable option now.

Well you scamp! How does it compare with your Munich town guard?

The Munich is a feather-light rapier comparatively... it's a heavy chopper, pretty much like you'd expect. Nice broad blade, much more balanced towards the cutting area rather than the guard like the Munich. Here's a pic I posted a while ago. And here they are together

That's one fine looking sword!
As for cheap Schiavonas, the unpolished Darkwood would be the cheapest option. Or you could keep an eye out on ebay and the Kult of Athena used swords page.
