I love tying them to a film, but every now and then I see a historical piece that grabs me like the sword of maurice

A real Middle-Earth museum you've e got here. I have always liked the sword designs from lotr (except the two handed elven sword/glaives). If only they were made with high carbon steel.

Thats how I feel exactly, I wish they were all carbon steel I would not have minded paying more for it. Though the museum sting and sword of sam I have are carbon steel swords and they are great pieces

Someday I will have an Odinblades custom Anduril. With a peened tang (unlike the WETA movie sword). Then I will hire Hugo Weaving (dressed up as Elrond) to present the sword to me. Anduril, flame of the west forged from the shards of Narsil!
Saw the St. Maurice now, I also have a St.Maurice sword, the Del Tin 2130. It a bit different from yours since it's the Turin variant. I think yours is the Vienna armoury variant.

The weta version isint peened? Thats rather sad for a sword that cost over $5000. And Nice just looked up your st. maurice sword. My st. maurice sword is rather uncomfortable, the hilt is rather thick and very heavy in comparisson to the blade which is very thin.

The pommel design on the Anduril doesn't allow for peening. A peened version would have to have the tang visible like on this sword: /thread/26842By the way this is what my Del Tin looks like: /post/514309/threadIt's a good sword but it's quite heavy, or rather blade heavy. Cuts about anything though.

Great selection of LotR swords Nifgaardian, My personal favourite out of LotR is the Wraith sword followed by the Witchking, but with the release of the Hobbit it just means more for you to collect.

I love the look of thorins sword orcrist, but Im alittle dissapointed in the use of resin on the handle.

Oh these are not mine, they belong to the author of this thread. I would never be able to afford all this. I don't have a collection large enough to post here. I've got four swords. Albion Talhoffer, Del Tin St.Maurice, GSoW and HT longsword.

If you havent already seen them you should check out Deepbluedave's and SwordFan's collection. They have a bunch of sweet lotr inspired pieces from Fable blades and Odinblades. I especially like the Fable blades wraith sword and the Odinblades green leafblade. Better watch your wallet though.

Very nice collection! I think for fantasy pieces and "look and feel" overall, the LOTR trilogy is maybe unsurpassed. That is a great set of movies. Really nice collection. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Bryan, I agree, they are unique, yet still contain many historical and cultural elements that I truly appreciate.
