started work on a new blade for my collection its a skeletal inspired project was originally going to be a cutlass but decided to cut blade down to a old world rapier type blade (when i mocked it up on handle it looked too clunmsy with a slender handle) still got loads of work to do on it but pretty happy with what i have so far  , skull at side of handle will eventually become a pommel once i finish the blade, ill drill it out and epoxy it in place, handle is made of separate pieces of wood all shaped by hand to look like vertebra then glued together, skull was a resin shot class cover i modded and the cross guard is two former coach bolts welded together to give it the twisted dark and evil look i wanted Attachments:

I think you were right to slim the blade down. Even as it is, it will probably be a bit blade heavy...unless there is more to that little skull than meets the eye. I like the skull at the guard, but I'm not really a fan of the coach bolts (but if they achieve the look YOU want, for YOUR sword - that's all that matters).

its a badass design, but i would have added 4-5 inches to the blade length. what material did you use for the skull?

you can fix the wobbles by claming the blade sideways into a vise and running an angle grinder back and forth of the profile before sharpening. thats what i do
