Looks like an alternate weapon for Auron or something. How much does it weigh?

Update....Distal taper, fuller, bevels all done, Blade just arrived from heat treat, was normalized 2 times, quenched, and tempered to 52RC. The sword took a beautiful spring temper and came out straight as an arrow with no warpage...TAKE THAT WHOEVER SAID IF YOU GRIND THE EDGE THIN IT WILL WARP!!!! anyway, all that remains as far as the blade itself goes is to clean off the fire scale, apply the final sharpening to the edge, and polish/etch the blade. most of you already saw my brazil nut pommel pics, that will be going on this sword, and i hope to be starting the guard later this week. For now here are the post heat treat pics.

Although it's hard to tell from the pictures it does seem to need a better radius where the tang meets the blade, a good radius makes for a stronger blade to tang transition. (2cents deposited)

an observation i noted as well, it will be taken care of when i shorten the shoulders by 1/2 inch to give me slightly more grip

That's gonna look real nice when it's done. I can't remember if we've already gone over exactly what you're doing with the handle, and am too lazy to go back through, so the sooner you get to work on it, the better my memory will get.

That's gonna be a good looking sword for sure. I'd give the guard and pommel some more tapering to the ends. Now they look a bit flat and boring and would profit from some more work to give them a better 3D-impression. Might be a problem with weight though. In that case thicker stock should be considered for the fittings.

it boils down to weight issue, the current fittings are 1/2 inch thick, i didnt just randomly chose that size, it was in order to keep the weight of the blade down. But if i taper them there wont be nothing left and the POB will be some crazy +10 inches or something  Do keep in mind however that the pommel is actually pretty tapered and apple seed shaped if you look down on it from a top view, and the guard and pommel both are in a very rough state, once i go around them with a file, clean up the small edge bevels and polish them, and then carry out the rest of my plans for the fittings, boreing wont be the word for them  although this is meant to be a no Bells no whistles dedicated warriors blade. When its covered in blood the last thing you'l notice is that the guards a bit flat for your tastes

the handle will be a 2 piece wood core design with a metal spacer in the middle, and the wood cores will be wrapped in brown or black leather lace.
