This is one of the "good" broadsword for the NORM out there, and meaning that we are not talking about those $400+ stuff, but the NORM that is int he sub $200 range. This one is made with high carbon steel, and the construction is pretty sturdy, with some very solid fittings. I sharpened the front 1/3 to 1/2 of the blade for fun today and here is the blade, showing you it's cutting ability, quite scary sharp too, because the blade is so thin.

I finally got the time to check this out and I really enjoyed it. I still wouldn't say its the best looking dao but it looks waayy better than the stainless steel one. I do wonder why the point in the high carbon steel is slightly rounded though? Loved the review. I would really love to see it up against tatami or something like that. As always, nice form.

Thank you!
I think the braodsword is not made for a "functional sword" kinda thing because the construction is for sure not as strong as a $4xx one sold in KofA site, but then this thing is only $1xx range, so you can see that it's already pretty good for the price. The rounded tip might be due to "safety" reason for those blades? It doesn't come sharp too, so I have to sharpen it myself using a benchstone and took me like an hour to put an edge on the thing for the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the blade. I made the 1/3 very sharp to cut paper, and the rest down the 1/2 point mark is like an edge that can cut but not razor like sharp.
There is an internal nut and washer inside the pommel too, which is pretty good. I have a that cheaper one shown in the video which have only ONE nut and washer at the back of the pommel to secure everything in place which is really a piece of semprini to work with. When it loosen up, you will have NO WAY to fix the blade... sigh~ cheap stuff!
