Has anyone handled any of their replicas? I know the newer version of Ice and the new Robb Stark Sword are supposedly full tang. So are they the least bit functional? I was wondering if anyone has had eyes on what they claim to be a tang and if so, does it look healthy enough for use?
Thanks

This might not be an issue, but its from their sword maintenance part of their FAQ..
I thought stainless wasn't a good choice for a sword blade? A wall hanger likely wouldn't matter, but if your going to cut with it....?
They refer to Needle as high carbon steel. The page says its 1045. Not my idea of high carbon really, but I guess that can be subjective. I've seen some good 1045 swords reviewed, here I'm pretty sure, so the fact that its 1045 isn't a death kneel.

1045 is what id consider the bare minimum as far as "high carbon" goes.

The book-based swords are definitely not "battle-ready". Needle is high carbon, but isn't full-tang. The news ones might be, though. Robb Stark's is 1060 steel, and looks almost plausible. Of course I wouldn't expect a well-handling sword from a company that's done only wallhangers, but it would be interesting to see what kind of construction it has.

Honestly to me the Robb Stark sword looks really common in terms of fittings. If it were me I would use MRL's build your own sword feature and get one made with those same fittings and blade type. At least it would be usable. www.museumreplicas.com/createyourown.aspx Here is a video on the Robb Stark sword.. I couldn't get the video to embed. Is there some trick other then just clicking the YouTube button? For a wall hanger though, Ice does look cool

Yeah, but the market for Valyrian Steel stuff is generally composed of ASOIAF or Game of Thrones fans who want a good, limited edition official replica. The fact that Robb Stark's sword is potentially usable is kind of a nice bonus. I have the Valyrian Longclaw, and though it's a terrible "sword", I think it's a really nice decoration and collectible piece.

Weird, first time I've seen a video linked that way. Usually they use the URL within the link, ah well. thanks! Least now I know how to link them.
