I received the Przemystaw in the mail a few days ago. drive.google.com/folderview?id= ... sp=sharing It made the journey safely from Poland and I think it will make a great cutter. I sent it off to Randy Black along with the tanto to get mounted. When Chris Osborne has some time, I will get the blade off to him for polishing. Attachments:

I was lucky enough to get a set of Wind and Thunder Fuchi Kashira for a wakizashi that I am now planning on using for the Przemek tanto. I also found out that the tanto fittings I was planning on using are from a Ryumon tanto. I feel like I lucked out considering Randy Black will start fabrication on my Dishi from Przemek in the next month. Good timing is not something that happens around me often.

I just picked up another lovely blade. This is a Pavel Bolf piece with a martial arts polish and a lovely o-kissaki.

Thanks Jussi! It has been a while sense I have held a fully mounted custom blade. Most of what I have are in "project mode" and I don't get out and about in the JSA community as much as I used to. At least not the community with fully mounted nihonto/custom blades.
I chatted with Pavel Bolf to make sure it was indeed his blade, and he confirmed that it was his work from around 2006-2008. The seller and I had a slight miss-communication and the blade is a little shorter (28.5")than I thought so it does not fit me right. Still, it is well balanced, the polish looks like glass, and the attention to detail is amazing. I looked at Pavel's site and custom blades seem quite reasonably priced there. I may have to think about having him make me another. I know his work has evolved sense he made this but this is still a fantastic blade.
Because it is not the right fit I now have to debate keeping it or selling it. It is hard to let go of though. This is one of those blades that feels great. It is lively yet aggressive and like it a lot. Still, I cant escape the fact that it is a little too small for something I would use regularly and this blade is begging to be used.

I picked up a Howard Clark L6 Naginata Naoshi Wakizashi recently. drive.google.com/folderview?id= ... sp=sharing The fittings appear to be Patrick Hastings and I believe the polish was done by Ted Tenold. I am not sure who did the mounting. I like the theme and as a Taurus I find the bull appealing. Hope you all enjoy.

I was lucky enough to pick up a few new customs. First up is a Mark Morrow Katana. I emailed Mr. Morrow and verified it was his work. I think I might send it off to him for a fresher polish and then have it mounted later. The blade feels like it will be a great cutter. It looks like a hefty blade but it is very light and quick. I am sure it will be a fun piece when it is done. Second is a Walter Sorrells Wakizashi. I really like the wak. I don't normally care for wakizashi but this one feels quite nice. It came with some scratches and rust but still you can see that it is a well made piece. The blade is really hard to photograph because it is the closes to a mirror polish I have seen. Wen you hold it up in the like, its just like smooth glass all the way along the blade. I am very please with this one. Attachments:

I got my Przemek blades back from mounting. The disho is not finished yet. The katana is pending a polish. I am very pleased with the turn out. The project was intended as a simple disho. Tanto: Hanwei Wind & Thunder Wakizashi Fuchi Kashira Hyper Cafe Menuki Przemek Tsuba Przemek Habaki (Fit/Finish/Rokusho was not przemek) Przemek Polish black Ishimae lacquer saya samagawa tsuka Katana: Hanwei Wind & Thunder katana Fuchi Kashira Hyper Cafe Menuki Przemek Tsuba Przemek Habaki (Fit/Finish/Rokusho was not przemek) no Polish yet black Ishimae lacquer saya black silk ito on full samegawa wrap tuska I am soo pleased with the results I can't put it into words. I know the production fittings are not as nice as the rest of the blade but I am glad I did them. I like the mitsudomoe theme and I think everything fits well. I tried to keep costs low on this project and so going full custom on everything was not in the cards. Still I think everything is great! I like the feel of the blades. I like the contrast between the rokusho copper and the brass/gold color. Everything is better than I expected. I am sure I will be even happier when the katana gets its polish. I have a lot of irons in the fire as far as sword projects go. Getting these blades gives me a new sense of energy. I am really looking forward to getting the others finished too! Attachments:

I got my Barrett 1075 back from polishing. Now I just need to get the rest of the fittings together and send it off for mounting. I have some copper fuchi/kashira to go on it from Josiah Boomershine, and Kevin Adams is making me a tsuba. Attachments:

Few more shots of the new Sorrells blade. Its a nice little wakizashi. Made of W2. Przemek made the tsuba and menuki. I had them retouched a bit by the mounter. The ito is lohman tsunami. I am happy with how it came out.

Wow Matthew,
The Sorrells came out nice. I like the fittings, you did a nice job choosing the look. The koshirae remind me of a simple but serious user blade look. Like it. Nice choices!!!

Thanks Bob! I am pleased with how it came out too. The fuchi/kahsira are from Jesus Hernandez, the tsuba and menuki are from fellow forum mate Przemek. The mounter did a little work on the patina for the tsuba and menuki. The menuki were originally blackened copper but I opted for the rokusho look. The habaki was done by Walter Sorrells but again the mounter added some artistic embellishments to them such as the rain drop pattern and the rokusho. It has custom seppa that were made and done in rokusho but the mounter.
The saya came out really well. It has a brown dye that leads into green with mitsudomoe painted on under the lacquer. The work is fantastic and it has a lot of change depending on the light. In sunlight it is a lot more subtle and indoors its a bit more loud. I am very pleased with how it came out. I need to find the right sageo to tie it all together (pun intended).
The ito is Lohman tsunami over a full wrap of decent samegawa. I really like how it came out. The diamonds are nice and tight, the knot is also very well done. It feels very comfortable and lively. The tsuka came out a little longer than most folks might like on a wkaizashi but I have giant sausage fingers and it helps me get a good grip on it. I study a bit of FMA as well so having something with a little punyo makes me feel right at home LOL.
Anyway, it came out better than I expected. I like the overall theme and it was a fun experiment. I am probably going to have my fun with it then sell it, but I can't argue that it is one nice little wak.
