Seriously? That seems quite high by my experience. Tariff from the States to myself last time was only $16. Is there some other US import restriction that we don't know about?

Yeah, it came as quite a surprise to me too. It is possible that they have different charges for business deliveries.

or the witch kings sword would be really cool The wall-hanger Witch King handles surprisingly well. Something like this is out of our price range, but still very nice: www.myarmoury.com/review_cf_ranger.html

Just heard from a friend who lives close by that his shipping was just over 30 bucks from AoV - I think I should go back and check my order info, because 70$ was the only option and I'm pretty sure it was the amount on my credit card. Maybe there was a glitch.

Give Jason a call if need be, I'm sure he'll correct anything that needs adjusting.

Haha, yes, Jason is based in Niceville. It's in the Panhandle, near-ish Tallahassee. It's maybe a 5-7 hour drive from me if I take the interstates. Too far for me to just drop in and visit unless I grabbed a hotel. ;D
I've never handled the UC LotR swords outside of the context of merely admiring their beauty, as the store I was in was located in the mall and sold wallhangers only. At least, that's what I remember them selling. It's been a few years since I've been there.

Thanks Brian, I'll check it sometime soon - and I'm sure that Jason will be his usual good customer service self and do whatever needs to be done. I've never had any reason to complain!

Martial Edge has a website www.martialedge.ca/fs.html, and they have a list of vendors and contact info. Dig around their vendors and see what you can find.

they didn't have squat about how it's made Martial Edge "Glamdring" With Scabbard Sku: ME8 Made in the Philippines by a 3rd Generation Sword Smith 47" Over All Length 36" Forged Spring Steel Blade Steel Pommel and Hilt Leather Wrapped Handle Heavy leather Scabbard Included There no specifics from Martial Edge about. But looking at the Sting that was on the site it looks like the same one that was reviewed on SBG. Likely it comes from the same Filipino forges that makes the swords from Generation 2. It is likely from the same area. Perhaps a rep from Generation 2 would care to comment on this. I came across a little feedback information that the Martial Edge swords, that are not the fantasy ones, are a little softer steel and tendency to dent more. No more further elaboration on this so take it for what it is and YMMV.

I've sent martialedge two emails requesting information on how their glamdring is made. On the second email I went so far as to list clear yes/no questions that they could ask their manufacturer in case they did not know. I've never received a reply to either Now does anybody know if Clyde is going to reissue a second run of sting now that the movie is coming out? Actually, glamdring is in that movie, so perhaps he might consider making it for us. A gen2 glamdring would be fantastic!

Looking through my old emails I found a response from martial edge... The sword is in deed high carbon spring steel. It has a full tang that is threaded. It is fully heat treated. And it is 2.5 KG which comes out to about 5.5 lbs. So we can add this one to the long list of great looking fantasy swords pretending to be real, but otherwise completely implausible. ... ever get the idea these swords are made with certain specs just to make a sale... with no sincere design to have them be real. I mean... why even bother heat treating a 5.5 pound sword that should weigh at most 4 lbs. Its just a heavy wall hanger that won't fall apart when it falls in an earthquake...
