Hi,
Some manufacturers out there are making folded blades with monosteel (in the case that interests me it is T10 tool steel)
Is it only for aestetic or does it have another, more 'practical' reason to it?

Aesthetic. Folding was devised to remove impurities, and today's steels are already very pure.

Thank you... well, As I tought...
But I don't really understand yet how we can still see the pattern if the layers are all of the same steel...

You see the weld lines, I think...?

Yup, that's what you see. Of course, that's what you see on the real deal too. Any time you forge weld two pieces together, there's going to be a line.

I would add that folding mono steel is a bit foolish and spending money on a mono steel blade that is folded is a price mark up I personally wouldn't do unless it was well justified. Why pay wages to a worker to fold perfectly good steel when those wages translate to higher price for you and me?

Well, it is justified, as Jin-shi has some ready-to-ship jians, and they are all folded DH T10 tool steel. It would be more expansive to get something alike (even non-folded) elsewhere, and I really don't want to wait 3-4 months more for a non-folded blade to only save like 100$.
I also like the look of it. It's kind of adding ''life'' to the blade. Indeed a Very subjective perspective I must agree.
