Good day SBG,
I am Scott, a relatively new collector of swords and new member to grace these hallowed boards. A bit about my self:
I am an almost 43yr old IT worker for the Canadian Federal Government, I work and play all within the greater Ottawa Valley in Ontario Canada. I spend most of my summers fishing, boating, and anything associated to being at the lake, I own a Stratos 476SF, and send as much time on the water as I can when its not frozen over. I am a pen and paper gamer since childhood, cutting my teeth on D&D basic right up to now modern Pathfinder rules. I am a computer gamer, a great winter hobby, and these days you can find me playing Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.
I have only recently begun to collect functional swords, having always wanted too as a boy, it was just recently stumbling across a local knife shop that carried CASHanwei products did I begin myh path to being a collector. I now own or have ordered 7 blades, listed below.
My first sword was as much a decorative piece as functional. I wanted something that looked good and could be used with a costume, but also like all blades I will buy, it must be functional (or battle ready - KoA), though I will never sharpen this blade. So from Ottawa store front Kuttersknives.com I purchased the Hanwei antiqued Bastard sword.

Mine is antiqued, giving it a very old asthetic I actually really like. Looks great on the wall. The scabbard is rather weak, cheap wood with some black metal bands, but it serves the purpose. It's heavy and feels sturdy in hand.
My second blade was from little more research, after buying one, I just could not wait for more. So I discovered Reliks.com and Darksword Armoury here in Canada, my fate was sealed. I picked up the 15th century Danish two handed sword from Reliks.com. The blade is polished, the leather scabbard much nicer then a cheap wood mock up. The flex in the blade is almost frightening, the design would make this weapon a devastating two handed thrust, I am sure you could skewer more than a single man.

Other than a very minor almost invisible blemish on one edge (sharpening will remove this), it's a stunning peice.
With my desire entrenched I then found the on sale section of Reliks, and noticed the Dread Pirate Roberts rapier, being an avid fan of the movie, I loved the nice mounting plaque, and of course it being functional; I ordered it from reliks. #360 of 750.

Pretty little blade, with the wall plaque it will look good on a wall.
Next I wanted a center piece to my display I am working out. So I wanted a real eye catcher, a massive blade. However a beautiful fantasy inspired blade caught my eye. Being a lover of Dark-Elves from D&D to EverQuest to Vanguard, I was sold. And thus enter in Windlass Blackblade. This is one really beautiful sword, decent scabbard, and the favorite so far in my collection by all observers.

So back to my center piece, I decided on this massive weapon. Enter in the Lowlander, nearly 70' long it will be the display center.

I pick it up tonight from the postal depot.
Now I wanted another one hander to go adjacent to blacksword, and I decided on a Viking sword. Being a huge fan of their myths and lore, I wanted a realy nice piece. Since most of their sword vary little, I wanted to buy one good sword. I looked seriously at the Ulfbert, but a huge error was made in this, they named it after the contemporary fakes of the day with the cross in the wrong place, after the "t", instead of before the "t". So I decided on the Damascus Viking sword from Windlass, and thanks to this site, I bought it from Kult of Athena.

This will be awesome once I get it.
Last stop and my 7th blade, well thanks to discovering this site I have ordered a custum SBG Katana.....I cannot wait!
Thanks for reading, and looking forward to my future here.
