So I took it upon myself to sharpen a DSA sword I own so it would have a somewhat more accurate edge. As most of you are probably familiar, DSA blades are thick, and mine was no exception. I filed down both edges to a rough finish (saved the filings in a shot glass...it was 40% full o.O) and then took a finer file to it, and then some 600 grit sandpaper. Following that, I ran the edges over an Arkansas stone before sanding again with the 600 grit paper.
However, some of the rough file marks still won't come out. I took the finer file back to them and ran the stone over them as well, but they refuse to buff out. My camera batteries are dead, so I'll have to post pics later, but does anyone know how to deal with persistent file marks?

Go back with a rougher file. Remove the file marks with a finer file. Then 600 grit paper. Then 800 grit, then stone. The approach you're using will eventuality get the marks out, but you'll be there a while.
