Hello,
I'm a first time sword buyer. Thanks to SBG I've narrowed my selection down to DSA 1313 Archer's sword and want to make a purchase ASAP as this is for our son's graduation, but I have some more questions that I havent found the answers to.
1. What is the difference between the standard scabbard and the upgraded scabbard/belt? Does anyone have a picture wearing this upgraded scabbard/belt? and is it worth the extra money?
2. I found the free ebooks on sword training and safe backyard cutting. Should I pay to have DSA sharpen the blade? Do they do a good job? If the sword is sharpened, does it eliminate it from being used in reenacting?(We're not near areas that do reenacting events, but he would love to do this sometime. He's going to college and won't get to take it there, so I figure he'll want to do backyard cutting first).
3. Any other suggestions?Am I missing something? I'm looking for a medieval historical replica under $400 that my son could use for backyard cutting and eventually reenacting. I chose the Arcer's sword, because my son has an interest in archers and has researched and made an archer costume. I was also impressed with how it handled in the side by side testing done by SBG, so I feel like i'll be getting a good sword for the money. My son LOVES knives and swords and has been duct tape sword fighting for years! We want a sword that he can USE. This sword will be presented to him at his homeschool graduation ceremony. I love how this speaks to the fact that he is no longer a little boy and this is not a toy.
I've had a great time researching swords and really appreciate the information provided by SBG.
Thanks!
