I was wondering weather anyone would be able to help me... I am looking at perchasing a cupple of swords and being a novice I thaught that it would be a good idea to ask some experts before going ahead. The first is a World War one GRV artillery officers sword The second is a World War one 1997 pattern infantry Officers sword Basicly How much should I pay for each as I dont want to be screwed over...? What does GRV stand for? And what does pattern mean? I look forward to reading your replies Many Thanks James

Can't do value estimates, but I'll bet you a dollar that GRV breaks out to George (Rex) V.

Hi Bobby:
There are quite a few factors involved in trying to determine relative value of an antique.
Without detailed pictures of what you are purchasing I would'n't attempt to tell you whether these are fake or real or the relative degree of quality of the swords.
Your 110x110 pics are no use in the process.
You can shop ebay, Michael D Long, Lanes Armory, Barretts to get a feel for the market.
Median price floats around $500.00 for either one of these ( with their scabbards).
But as I said, there are a number of condition, provenence, historics unit or battle associations that can move these numbers around.
Anything more specific than that, send me a pm.
Cheers
