I just received my Buck Hood Thug today and noticed the hollow grind is off on both sides. Would this impede the functionality of the knife or is it mainly just aesthetically unpleasing? Thanks for your help.

Had the hardest time getting the pictures to load, probably a size thing. The side views loaded first and I couldn't quite pick out any noticeable issue...and then I finally got to see the tip.
I don't think it's a functional concern, but it's still kind of sloppy on Buck's part. If it bothers you, shoot an email to who/where ever you bought it from and see what they can offer. It would bug me, but then again, I'd have to notice first.

A hollow grind on a borderline khukuri design knife at that pricepoint? I thought that the Buck Hood series featured flat grinds?
Buck does a good heat treat on their knives, but a hollowgrind on a knife designed for survival and bushcraft might be a little...fragile from a technical standpoint in my opinion.

Well, it is called the "hood thug". Maybe that's who grinds them.

I agree it's sloppy for buck especially at the price point. I don't want to send it back to buck if I don't have to because shipping is about $30. If it's just a small aesthetic issue I can live with that. Miekka I agree it's weird that buck chose a hollow grind as apposed to FFG. I have the punk and the hoodlum by buck and thought I would buy the thug to add it to my sort of collection.
