Being new, I'd like to know what specifically makes a katana blade a "Bushido Blade". Thanks.

Where did you hear the term?

well, Bushido is the code by which the Samurai strived to live. I guess any blade worn and used in this pursuit could be considered such. However, to my limited knowledge, there is no such official designation of Bushido Blade.

Ok, you've either watched the movie with Sonny Chiba or played the PlayStation game one to many times.

Hah, ok I will try and explain. I read a lot of stuff.. some people that are having personal katana's built were discussing the different types of blade options available. A few people indicated they would like to install a Bushido blade. I've tried figuring out what this exactly is. I figured it was a very dumb question.

In that context, I think they're talking about a kogatana. It's a small knife in the saya of a katana. Come to think of it, I seem to remember someone referring to it as a bushido blade.

If it was a customizing thread, they could be talking about using the blade from the Hanwei Bushido.

That's likely what it was. The Hanwei Bushido is a well respected and handsome blade. There is also a brand called Bushido, but they are lower-tier compared to the Hanwei.

It's the word "install" that makes me think it.
