While it may look nice, it is a wallhanger, and hence it is nothing short of disappointing, in MY opinion.
What is it you want in a sword? Do you want a sword that can fucntion? Look nice AND function? Look nice, alone? This is most certainly not a REAL sword, however, if you all you want is something to hang on your all and admire, this may be a good choice. However if you're anything like us, you'll not be able to resist the temptation to actually USE the sword -- hitting trees, cutting bottles, etc. If that's the case, then Is trongly recommend that you not buy this sword.
Just a note: "toledo steel" means that the sword is junk right off the bat. As Ronin so elequently puts it, (and this is not a quote) it might have meant something 100 years ago, but today it means that it is factory made garbage. Or hand made garbage, but garbage nonetheless. Singing praises for the steel of this sword is nothing short of false advertisement.

I remember some forumites here complaining about the fact that the people in some other forums were snobs. Now, I understand that like a lot of people, including me, you are interested in "battle ready/functional swords" but, some people , also like me, may buy wall hangers from time to time because they are beautiful display pieces, and just that. As long as you know what you like and want, you must be able to accept other people opinions and interests. I think that what makes this forum different that any others is the inclusiveness of its nature, we should try not to forget that.

You're right jp, I'm sorry, I re-read my response and it was a bit harsh I don't really have a problem with wallhangers so much as I have a problem reading wallhangers being elevated to the level of true swords. Pointing out the flawlessness of this sword and the quality of it's manufacturors is just sickening to look at because it is just not true. It's SLOs and their advertising who get people beliving that their swords are just like the real ones of old. If you don't want anything more than something to look at (and I can't imagine why ;D) then go for it. If, on the other hand, you want to use it then avoid it like batman avoids hairspray -- my conspiracy theory, not yours ;D. Also at the price it is listed for, it is nothing short of a scam. You could buy some very high quality swords for that much money, or slightly more that look just as nice and are actually faithful to the handling and functionality of a medeival sword.

Do not forget that some people buy these as collector's items. They are increasing in value as stamps, action figures etc... do. People are attracted to certain things and I am not ready to short changed them because they happen to do something that I would not do. I am sure that some people that see you cutting with you Albion or Gen 2 sword may feel that you are weird, maybe even a little crazy or something... To each his/her own.

Remember Rammstein, many of us have to do our cutting after dark, behind privacy fences, or out in the country so our neighbors don't think we are some crazy weirdos....not that we aren't....but, you know. Since we sort of "live in glass houses" keep those rocks to yourself, buddy.

Deathstalker,
Obviously, it isn't functional. But for a wall decoration, that is very appealing in the picture. Do you have others from Marto? I've always wondered how close they look in real life compared to the obviously "eye candy" marketing photos they use for advertising.
In the photo, the hilt looks flawless and is quite a beauty!

The main difference I'd expect in person is that the blade is mirror polished, rather than non reflective as shown in the pic. It looks like an absolute dead ringer for the one in the video clip.

I have seen many Marto swords and they are quite beautiful, many have engravings on the blade which is highly polished(stainless steel). Besides the functionality, the main difference between these wall hangers and the real things is the balance and that, for obvious reasons. They do look great on the wall, as long as you know that it's all they're good for!

For under $300 you can get some pretty sweet looking decorative fantasy real (functional) swords from movies: The Windlass Narnia Peter's Sword would probably be the most ornate for the money, really nice blade etching and pommel. Leather grip wrap is first class. Darksword Armoury's LOTR replicas look faithful to originals, Gen 2's Ranger & Elven swords for heavy use, Gen 2 Braveheart.
and how sweet is Gen 2's Chaos? Go Clyde - anyone got one?
Then theres the 7lb Albion Conan Atlantean ($1500)...
Just offering pretty alternatives to wall hangers that you can more safely take to that entertainment unit.
