So I am debating trying to sharpen a sword by myself or just get KoA to do it for me. If I sharpen it myself I am certain I will mess it up no matter how many times I practice on a machete or other piece of steel. I just want to cut simple targets like milk jugs full of water or pool noodles/water bottles so nothing terribly hard. So my question(s) is/are: Will KoA Sharpening job do the trick for those targets? WIll KoA's sharpening job ruin my blade? I know the use a belt grinder but Ryan told me on the phone that he believes their method and results are better than say MRL (windlass) and others they have handled. I would rather get KoA to do it for me so will it be ok for soft targets? Will it mess up the sword?

The ones I've had sharpened from KOA have been okay. They do come with a secondary bevel but I've come to believe that isn't a bad thing if done correctly. I have gotten several sharpened swords from them and some may have been sharpened by MRL before Koa started sharpening themselves but that is just speculation from what I've heard. In any case, I have been satisfied with the results.

As a general rule, I've never gone wrong with KOA, and I'd trust Ryan's advice until it was proven wrong.
What sword are you thinking of?
