Hey guys, I just got this 40 dollar short sword/dagger. www.kultofathena.com/product.asp ... led+Dagger The scabbard is leather and comes with the sword. Ive been looking online and they all say to not store the sword inside the leather scabbard. How would i store this short swyrd, if not with the scabbard that comes with it? The max time for storage i think will be around 1-2 weeks; i tend to oil it quite often with baby oil, but i don't want it to rust. Also, the blade comes with a blunt edge. What tools do I need to sharpen such edge? I am on a tight budget, so should I get like a wetstone or something? And what tutorials/articles are there about wielding such type of short sword? All the tutorials online deal with long swords.

There really is no difference between sharpening a longsword vs shortsword. It's more about how you want the edge to turn out and how strong you want the edge to be, which also could depend on what you want to cut. The cheapest route would probably be a whetstone or automotive sandpaper from an auto store. There is a good tutorial on the sword-buyers-guide.com website.
