Hi all, this is a re-post of this thread here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=16239
Would like to get various feedback from different people. Apologies to Mod if this is against the rules.
I am a newbie to both this forum and the sword collecting world in general. I am practising kenjutsu for the past 1 year plus and am planning to order an iaito. My kenjutsu involves both battaho techniques (similiar to Iaijustu or iaido) and sparring katas. As such, I need an iaito that can handle light impact as well as smooth drawing.
The thing is, I do not wish to simply order a off-the-rack iaito and as I am on a tight budget, the options offered by Sinoswords and buyiaito are very tempting and overwhelming.
Now, I have read the various threads on these 2 forges and I decided to narrow it down to Sinoswords, based on their customer service.
I have come up with the following specs:
Kudos to fellow member Andras for the above format.
Now, will the above be sufficient for Sinoswords to go ahead with?
Is there anything I miss out or loophole that they may use to subpar quality? How about my steel choice? My budget is capped at USD200, before shipping. My friend who has e-mailed Sinosword correspond with Mr Yang. I may get him when I e-mailed this.
I appreciate all honest feedback, esp from Andras and those who have dealt with them before.
Thanks
p.s. blade and tsuka measurement is based on Japanese standard of my height, at 175cm. So yes, some may find the tsuka length abit short.
