Hey just got my Noble Sting from the Hobbit. As you all know the Hobbit sting is the same size as the UC version not the actor scale of their LOTR version. First impressions are very positive and I am happy I went with the NC version this time out. I posted pics alongside the UC LOTR version so you can make a comparison. The only discernible difference in size is the handle on the NC version is slightly smaller in circumference. The reason I went with the NC version was I had read that the vines were raised not painted on. The handle is a mold injected plastic and yes the vines are raised and painted chrome maybe plated not sure, but the effect is really very nice. I think this time out with the Sting at least NC out did UC. Sorry need to make a correction. The handle is not plastic but metal. The raised vines are the unpainted metal. This is a real plus as far as I am concerned.

Does it have the ''minimum requirements'' to be a decent sword ? Carbon blade ? 1045, 1060 ? Full tang ? Sharp ?

No it is purely a wall hanger. I am just commenting as to its appearance and feel, not handling. Blade is stainless and tang is unknown to me. Sorry, yes the bottom one is the Noble Collection and top is United Cutlery.

Darksword Armoury makes a Sting replica if you want something in carbon steel, although from what I understand it's not nearly as well detailed as the UC replicas. You could perhaps get a minor smith or knife-maker to make you a blade for the UC fittings...

Darksword made one Sting sword of the new production run, just a prototype, and declined to make more because it was too blade heavy. I owned it and resold it to someone else on this board. The blade heavy nature of it was fine for its short size. It was brutal but not without grace.
