I just finished hilting a Damascus Blade 4” Drop Point I bought from Atlanta Cutlery a while back that I’m giving away as a gift to my sister. The pattern is random and not all that special, but it does make it stand out a bit. My girlfriend loved the blade, so I now have to buy one for her as well. The knife came unsharpened, but it had been heat treated and given a deep etch. There were some visible grinding marks in places, but nothing major. The tang is actually about as long as the blade, and not as short as it appears in the pictures on AC’s webpage. I sharpened it with a file and sand paper, soaked it in vinegar to bring out the pattern near the edge again and gave a quick rub over with 1000 grit sandpaper to create some contrast and touch up the edge. The handle is made out of buffalo horn, copper and rowan, and held in place with epoxy. I wanted to try my hand at making a slightly fancier handle shape than I’ve previously done, and I think it turned out rather nice. It feels good in the hand as well. Unfortunately I didn’t take many pictures, and the knife is already packed and shipped.
