Great time to be a euro sword enthusiast. Absolutely! Never before has this part of the market been so spoiled for choice. I look forward to trying these ones out too!

Doggone it! I have been swearing I was going to stop buying swords for a while. But this one will make that difficult! I hope it doesn't hit the market too soon...

Is it just me or does that grip look uncomfortable. Tinker always does quite square section grips. It doesn't look very 'organic' to me. Then again CNC milled blades aren't very organic either.
I wonder if Rammers approves of that fuller? Extends under the guard, fades out gradually. He should like that.

I think the longsword tinker practicals are about three months off. I can't substantiate that, but that's the feeling that I get. And the prototype for this arming sword just showed up, so it's probably about three of four months off. Hey mike, that's plenty of time to save up for a new pointy shiny thing.

I don't know about uncomfortable on that grip. The Eddie III has a hexagonal grip and it's quite comfortable, once you pry those copper grip rings off.

It's a beautiful sword, fuller included, brenno.
My personal complaints are personal taste ones - Not sure I'm fond of the pommel of the squarish grip, but neither is really a breach of anything or than my own sense of aesthetics.
I concur with everyone else, is this the Pax Romana of european sword ownership? Have we even got started?

Have we even got started? I would say this is only the beggining. Thats the beauty of captialism-Valiant and Hanwei introduce great new lines that have better quality for the price than anything wever seen before, and before you know it manus like Gen2 and Windlass will be forced to improve their quality. Yup.... Its only gettin started.

The better excuse for people like you and I to customize them But I do agree...it wouldn't have taken much more work to make a better looking and more comfortable proper oval-section grip. Dan

Dan I don't think it's a question of work, since the Bastard has an oval-section grip. It's kind of hard to imagine I guess, but the grip in hand is much better than you'd expect (judging from the Longsword, don't have the EMS in hand yet). After doing some drills with the longsword I find the octagonal grip actually gives me some feedback on edge alignment, etc during transitions and cuts. Much more so than my Practical Hand and a Half. Blake

I guess there's only one way to find out. When can we get one of these Blake? In fact Blake, what sort of info can you present all in one place about upcoming models and times of availability? Lets buy some swords! Heres my hand and half (I still like it heaps):

Lets buy some swords! The Single hand EMS is a ways off, we have to get it here, photograph it, dry handle, etc. and then send it off to hanwei. I should suspect it will be a little shorter for this one start to finish than the longsword since they've worked out the heat treat, etc. The longsword we expect around May. Should have a few on hand at Blade Show for Tinker to show off Stay tuned on a full project write-up and link... Blake Edit to add: Great job on that re-wrap! Did you use the original core or start over? It's a very nice customization...

May is close. Give us a heads up and I'm sure a couple of us will get them and post reviews - which will help add some sales for you in the long run.
*edit* it's the original core with just the middle riser ground off. I like a very snug fit up against the cross for the fore hand, which has left ample space for the aft hand (wire wrapped). I have medium to large hands.
PS - this is a good example of why to leave these as take down hilts, and not to succumb to the peen.
