I am interested in getting a full length 40 inch katana I'd say price range in the $300 range. Must be fully functional and capable of heavy cutting. What would be your choices? I've looked around and find myself confused on a lot of the specs. Y'alls help is much appreciated.

If you want a DH katana, I would get a Hung Shing True Sharp Budget Beater
If you wanr a TH Katana, I recommend the Hanwei Shobu Raptor

I'd second those. I'll also throw in Ronin Katana, their Dojo Pro models specifically.

Hanwei has been a bit hit and miss lately, both the and the Dojo Pro are great first swords.

Thx again. I've been looking around again, since every time I see something that catches my eye, I find something else that's more in-line with what i'm looking for. I checked out the Ronin Katana site, and it seems I really like the Dojo Pro Model #16, # 17, and #18, as well as the Dojo Pro Dancing Crane O-Katana.
Well see what happens over the next few weeks, not going to jump on the first I see, but the swords I listed above seem to be of very good quality. Anyone have any experience with the blades I listed?
