My H/T Longsword accidentally fell tip first from about a foot into a carpeted wooden floor. The tip 0.5cm got bent at a 20 degree angle. It was quite alarming and I without really thinking it through I grabbed my rubber mallet and smacked the offending area a couple of times and surprisingly i was able to correct a bit. It's still bent at about 5 to 10 degree angle and its quite noticeable.
I was going to send the sword over to armourclass in Scotland for a rehilting and I could ask them to correct the tip for me (any ideas how it can be corrected if at all?). Should I be concerned at all that I've got a sub par quality sword?

Yeah it scared the semprini out of me :S I've the done flex test with it plenty of times before without any problems. Haven't really used it much besides thrusting into cardboard boxes.

I've already returned the sword once (the first time the balance was off and it came with a slightly warped tip) and they replaced that with the one i dropped just now. It's a bit semprini if I got two lemons in a row especially considering this is my first sword. I sent them an email asking if I could still get a replacement but I doubt it. It's giant bummer because I spent a really long time removing the beveled edge and polishing it to an almost mirror finish.

Not sure we are talking about lemons here.
I remember when Paul did some euro sword testing (there was a vid on the sbg main site that featured a four or five sword comparison, I think. ) the HT longsword suffered a bent tip when thrust into something or other. It surprised me given the HT reputation for toughness and steered me away from the longsword.
I can't seem to find that vid at the moment. Maybe someone with better google-fu can.
Edit: Found something on the SMG site from a cache since the site appears to be down.
The comparison was with the DSA black prince, DSA archer, VA kriegschwert and the HT longsword. Below is a quote from Paul from that comparison:
"The Longsword demonstrated good cutting ability on the maille and impressive durability when used against the helmet. However, a single thrust against the maille resulted in a bent tip, which was really quite a shock to be honest..."
I know this probably isn't what you wanted to hear.

mmm seems to be a design flaw rather than a lemmon issue. kinda glad i got rid of mine now, if it cant hold up to thrusts thats a problem being that the sword is designed as a thruster

Hammer the tip back in place as best you can, then file it and re-profile it. The 1 H/T longsword that i checked out a few years ago, had such an exaggerated point and i was surprised to see so little "meat" behind it to reinforce a thrust that it turned me away. If your sword fell tip first, embedded into the wood and fell over, honestly, i'm not at all surprised hat the tip bent. It's kinda like stabbing a tree and using the sword like a prybar. It is unfortunate, but if you reprofile and take the tip back a little bit, it should be fine.

Agreed, not many swords will handle a tip bending right at the point, reprofiling will remove the offending "bent" bit (ok you will lose a little length) and give you a stronger sword at the finish.

I would really think its that alarming. concrete would be less likely to bend the tip. probably stuck into the wood, then the weight of the sword gave it a bit of a bend before the wood gave out or the tip slid out of the wood. Unless you have carpet over cement. Even a spring temper will take a set (you just have to bend it much further past the angle you want it to be at). Next time drop it from a bit higher, bet it just sticks and dont bend.
