dang it...well yes but type XIII wouldn't be match with that hilt unless it was an old heirloom blade that was refurbished. So not really historically plausible as a new sword being made that way. When we are looking for historical plausible, we aren't looking for unique cases like that for example.

I was more looking at the blade for an example than the whole sword....but clearly we arent going to come to an agreement on this one so I for one am gonna drop it so as not to de-rail Darkhorses thread any further. Besides....disagreements happen here all the time but id rather not get this one as heated as some get. Id rather not make an enemy over so small a thing....i dont need any one seeing my name and sayin "jak again? oh i hate this bastard!" so lets just agree to disagree.

Hehe, well so far, it's been a fairly friendly discussion. I wouldn't say this is an arguement. But yeah, we did de-rail dark's thread just a bit .

Earlier someone mentioned that the approximate era of the german bastard swords blade and guard/handle/pommel didnt match. There is a reason for this that is perfectly plausible. This sword is based on a real sword. That sword is A477 in the Wallace Collection. They have said that the blade dates back to the 14th century and that the handle, guard, and pommel were put on it in the 16th century. I guess at one point in its life the blade was given a second chance and fitted with a new handle. Other than weight, blade length, and lack of a fuller, the Windlass is asthetically close to its inspiration.
