Xan, Suvurov, aquired one of those not too long ago and mentioned it here along with some others; /index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1200692447&page=1 If you have other questions, I'm sure he'd respond to a PM.

I just personally handled this piece at Cecil's last night. He is the owner of KrisCutlery and a very nice person. The sword is very sturdy. The blade is stiff and handles well. Solid is the word. The only things that didn't attract me to this piece were the blade and transition from grip to pommel. Looked like there was a washer almost. It just doesn't terminate smoothly into the pommel. The blade is of hexagonal cross-section with no fuller or anything. Just flat. Would've preferred a more historically accurate diamond cross-section. But if you want a tough sturdy bastard sword that handles well..... for $206, you can't beat that.

Would've preferred a more historically accurate diamond cross-section. This really piqued my interest! What oakeshott (if any) would you classify the sword into? Cheers

XVIIs were hexagonal but they weren't used so late I think. That kind of hilt should have XVIII or maybe XX blade...

I would expect a type XVIIIa or XVIIIb. If there was a fuller it would've been a more convincing XVII. I told Cecil, it would be perfect if you take the blade from your new Medieval War Sword, and put it onto this hilt, and just touch up the transtition from grip to pommel. The grip should flow into the pommel, not have a washer-like spacer for transition.

here's a pic of a sword that looks like it could be the teutonic's big brother. It's from Arms & Armor and is based on an original. The blade should be like this. The original had black fittings though.

Thanks vayduong, interesting reading. Like you were saying, with a fuller the blade could be a good match for another type, but the furniture is wrong. To me, this would be a good match:

Hi Could you tell me has the Kris Cutlery Teutonic got a full hexagon construction (3 sides on each side of the blade) or has it a 3 sided construction on one side and flat on the other? just difficult to tell from the stock pics.
thanks mudguts
