While searching I found this cool article that has lots of pictures of old Chinese swords, plus some reading if you are so inclined. Based on this, oxtail daos were made that had pretty decent looking fittings, and wow! What a yanmandao www.metmuseum.org/pubs/journals/ ... nnered.pdf

Thanks Rafael! That's Philip Tom's article he wrote a while back! I think all CMA students and chinese sword collectors should read this article. It's one of the best English articles on historical chinese weapons! Here's another article he wrote called "The Art of the Chinese Sword" on sevenstarstrading. sevenstarstrading.com/site/2010/10/the-art-of-the-chinese-sword-2/I also think all Chinese sword manufacturers' should read these articles. Imho the dao was at its zenith during the Qing Dynasty
