So I recently ordered some parts from yeshua swords but I'm making the actual handle of the hilt myself. I chose Rosewood because of the beautiful red grain, but I want to put a design in it. I really love Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit so I want my design to kind of look elvish. Any ideas on what I should carve into the handle? Pics, links, feedback, anything to help. Thank you.

Incidentally, I wish there were some good pictures of Haldir's sword. That might be my favourite of the LOTR elven weapons.

I believe the designers actually stated that the elven design philosophy is heavily influenced by Art Nouveau. Basically, you want to avoid straight lines. Elves do everything in curves.

Unless you are very good at carving, though, I recommend trying something simple at first. Rosewood is fairly easy to work with but carving nice curvy shapes can still be really tricky.
