Well it finally got here, and all in all I'm happy with the results. The only complaint I have is a cracked scabbard but I think it has more to do with the freezing weather over here, I'll keep it well oiled and hope it doesn't get worse. Otherwise it feels very solid, it feels well balanced. Nothing is loose, the blade fits the scabbard well, so there is no rattling. The Traditional polish was well done and is very attractive, The Hamon looks very nice and the Lamination lines were kept pretty consistent like I asked. One thing though, They have epoxied the nut under the pommel. is that a normal thing? Oh I forgot to put the details of the sword: Blade Length: 75 cm Handle Length: 20 cm Construction: Sanmai Core steel: T10 outer steel: Folded 1050 Octahedral Blade geometry

That's nice! (I almost said, "That's sharp!" until I remembered where I was.)

Looks good! I like the dark look to it. What is the weight and balance?

I love the look of that. Makes me very impatient to get my swords from sinoswords. They will have the same kind of hardening, but with the twistcore patter in between the hamons.

Weight was 1.11kg, P.O.B. I think was 11cm from the hilt

Very nice! Congrats on the new addition. Have you disassembled the handle yet? I'm curious how the tang and cross section of handle look. I have one from them ordered too

The Blade is for all intents and purposes perfect, the tang is good is the right width and thickness, the shoulders are slightly rounded (they did the best they could to make it fit the fittings without squaring off the shoulders. the grip, despite being a wooden tube, fits quite snugly and doesn't turn when loosened.
Bad part? and this is my fault I think because I choose the wrong fittings, the pommel is only epoxied on and after some vigorous use it came off. I think I can fix it when I have the time, but I was thinking of sending it to Philip Tom and getting everything redone, though I don't know what that will cost me. Now I blame my self for this problem because I've looked at their more traditional designs an all the pommels are fixed either by threading over the inner nut or by an outer nut like we see everywhere else. I chose to be non traditional and I think the fittings I chose were more for show than use.
Now they do share some blame because they should not that fact on the page but I'm not going to denigrate them for it, the Blade is magnificent, and thats what really matters, everything else can be redone, but if the blade was bad then it would have been a total waste of money.

Glad to hear about the quality of th blade and see the pics of the beautiful work they did.
As far as the epoxy under pommel, did I understand right that the tang is not threaded into the pommel? The pommel is just glued onto the end of handle? If so, is there a nut or something holding end if tang in the handle? does this have a peg somewhere in the handle?
I like the grip style with lots of rings. Kane never mentioned or offered that one to me.. just the other one with two large rings in middle and rings towards ends. Did you pick from pictures you found someplace or that he sent or did he just suggest that one?
Sorry about all the follow up questions lol
Thanks for sharing this one with us

There was a nut holding the sword together, but the pommel was only glued on over it. THe sword holds together solidly otherwise, but without the pommel it becomes severely unbalanced. No peg through the handle, didn't think to ask for one until it was too late.
As for the grip, I picked the style of sword, said I wanted the grip to fit as tightly as possible and thats the grip he gave me.
