sand paper on a block works....I dont use anything coarser than 800 grit wet then move up to 1000 grit then 2000 wet. a brass wire wheel works too (dont panic if part of your blade turns gold, sandpaper will take care of that LOL!)

Performing the hybrid polish outlined here: www.arscives.com/bladesign/hybridpolish.htmWill sharpen the blade automatically. Just make sure that you're working the paper slightly outward toward the edge for every stroke you make along the blade.

Just make sure that you're working the paper slightly outward toward the edge for every stroke you make along the blade. yeah what he said. dont worry about dulling the blade a bit....sharpening doesnt take long if its already got an edge. file, whetstone w/ oil....even those sharpening rods you get with a kitchen knife set work (for honing the edge). hold your blade edge up to a light, if you see light reflecting off the edge, lightly file it or use a whetstone, takes 5 minutes and its hard to screw up if your slow and careful.
