ok children gather 'round and ill tell you the story it was a dark and stormy night when my coldsteel bushman arrived in the mail i took it out and was cutting soda bottles and water bottles and my dad decided it was cool to stab a punching bag so he did.......it didn't have a hand guard so he silt the flesh between index finger and thumb AND NOW HE WONT LET ME GET A SWORD AND CUT STUFF UP
don't we all agree that sucks i mean ive been collecting swords since- 9 (P.S he also had to go to the hospital for 10 stitches)

That does suck. Like you said that is one of the reasons why swords have guards. Leave it alone for a while don't keep harping on it. Give the wound some time to heal and him some time to forget. If you need his approval to buy a sword, you will then have to make it part of some package deal with him for something he wants. Maybe as a reward for doing some chores he hates or going better in school.

He'll get over it. If hes let you at them for yearas before he's obviously reasonable. He'll come good.

I agree with the "be patient and let some time pass" scenario.
And worse case scenario...
I know it might seem like forever, but eventually one day you'll be adult, and if you've played your cards right, you'll have a decent paying job. Then you'll be able to buy swords and practice with them.
Of course you'll have to pay bills and go to work, but that's why you want a decent job!

Listen to Ancalagon. Finish college, get a good job that makes lots of money, then you can do what ever you want. Sword collecting, WMA, SCA, fighting, Rapier fighting are healthy and inexpensive addictions to have. If you have the space for it you can own every sword you ever wanted, and display it in your own house It is also a good way to actually save money because you don't waste it on expensive garbage like new sport cars, Yuk!
