My brother and I just got our first swords, and I have a few questions about their quality. The swords in question are Hanwei Practical Hand-and-a-Half Swords, ordered from www.cashanwei.com. link: www.cashanwei.com/product/practi ... ord/sh2106 Immediately after taking the swords out of the shipping box, I noticed that on one of them, the blade was loose and moves noticeably when I swing the sword. Although the other sword did not have this problem, I noticed that its crossguard started rattling a lot when we did some light sparring. Since this is my first experience buying a sword, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Is there anything I can do to fix these problems myself? If not, should I contact Hanwei and ask them to repair or replace the swords? They have a 1-year warranty against all manufacturer's defects. If anyone has experience with these types of problems or with Hanwei customer service in general, I would greatly appreciate your advice. Thanks!

This happens a fair bit with re-enactment gear, clashing swords creates extreme forces on blades, cross-guards and such, the quick fix is to wind some light nylon fishing line tightly between the grip and cross-guard until there is no more movement, a couple of drops of super-glue or clear nail polish will hold it in place, since your sword grips are peened in place - "The end of the tang is riveted over the pommel, which both eliminates any possibility of inadvertent disassembly"
You could have someone tighten the peen for you, I have not seen one of the swords you have so not sure if that is possible.
