how does it stack up against the gen2 lucerne ? 2 different types of blades. I've actually got a Lucerne on it's way to me, so I'll let you know when I get it by posting a presentational on it.

I always say a Gen 2 has a much better appearance than any other sub-$300 sword. When I see a Gen 2 for the first time I always say "nice!" in the genuinely impressed tone. Other manufacturers usually have a gripe or two. For blade durability, I would take a DSA over Gen 2. For handling I would take a Gen 2 over DSA.

A Gen 2 would be a better balance of finesse and heavier cutting. A DSA would lean more towards the heavy cutting with less finesse. However, the Knightly and the Gothic are the two best handling DSA swords available, and the Knightly is a very nice one-handed sword for all-around use. The Lucerne I hear is a very fast bastard sword.

yes, I will make it a very good and helpfull one, though not at helpfull as Paul's review, his is realllyyy long.
Also do you guys use good sword oil to protect it from rusting? cuz I saw in another post that someone got 10 rust spots on his squire when it arrived. I hate rust SO FREAKING MUCH!

Hi all.
This sword is firmly in the 2-handed category and not a bastard-type sword...correct?

Well...they are kinda on the large size for a bastard sword...but then again, they are a bit on the small size for a full on two hander. However, due to their weight, I think one handed use is pretty much out for either of these without considerable strength on the user's part. The gothic being more doable then the other one.

Thanks. I was mentally comparing the DSA Gothic and the Gen 2 Irish Hand-and-a-Half swords in trying to choose my possibly next one. I might just get an Albion Crecy though, if I can swing the dough.
Thanks.
