I haven't heard of anyone here owning it, but Sean Flynt on myArmoury has done a home makeover to one of these recently. He had some very nice things to say about it. Here is his thread. It looks like a really nice piece. I consider buying it for a long time. But it sounded a bit heavy for it's size, and other swords kept calling to me more. I think it would be a fine choice.

It is one of windlass' older models. The guard and the pommel are actually very heavy with the blade still having the whippy attributes of many windlass swords. It handles well, but with the whippy blade it is not a sword that AoV would sell. We tend to pick and choose the better swords available from each manufacturer.

Thanks, Jason. Very good info to have. That would pretty much remove it from my list unless I was buying it as either a pretty wall-hanger. Or if I just wanted the guard and pommel for a special project.

Alright, thanks for the info. It's a nice looking sword for sure, which is what initially caught my eye. But it needs to have functionality once you get past the aesthetics. Ah well.

No problem,
Just remember I have either or can handle every sword available through Windlass, Paul Chen, Gen 2, Darksword, and Valiant Armory! ;D

Well, then, in that case, lemme go get my list. Or not. Though I may be contacting AoV with a few questions in the near future...not terribly near, mind you...

Yes, if you have seen the Windlass sword making video you know that each sword is hand hammered and forge, so variances can be expected to occur.
It was earlier this year (in the spring sometime) that I handled it, so things may have changed. Though I think Windlass may have discontinued this sword.

I recently bought the Windlass German bastard sword, its surprising that you would say it has a whippy blade. You really need to put some beef into it to make it bend. It could be that mine was a newer production run, just thought I would come to the defense of this sword. It seems that it being a Windlass makes alot of people discredit it.

GBS I handled was also quite stiff and a nice, quick sword...

GBS I handled was also quite stiff and a nice, quick sword... I will echo those remarks!! I just (and I mean only 30 minutes ago) handled one and am going to purchase two of them. "Whippy" would be about the last word I would use to describe them; keep in mind you must get them while you can because Windlass has discontinued them. I know this an old thread but I thought I would give anybody a heads up that has been indecisive about getting this sword!!
