Hello everyone. My name is Jeremy and this is my first post on here on the forum. I am very interested in swords and am hoping to start my collection soon. For my first sword I am looking to one of the viking style. I was hoping I could get some opinions on some reputable builders. Thanks for your help.

Welcome! I'm not really the guy for advice on Viking swords, but I hear the Tinker Pierce Viking from Hanwei is excellent, although it has been known to come somewhat dull. You can check out reviews here on the forum.

Welcome Jeremy. No experience with viking swords here other than watching the ulfberht nova documentary which was badass. I would like to get a octagonal han with jade fittings made with 'ulfberh+t' inlaid into the blade  But back to your request for advice.. While I have no first-hand experience I can definitely recommend perusing the selection on the Kult of Athena website. With flawless customer service from the owner Ryan, free return shipping on defective items, AND a 45 day "if for any reason unsatisfied" money back guarantee, you really can't go wrong buying from Kult of Athena This link navigates directly to the section that is full of different kinds of biking swords ranging from $110 to $1500 www.kultofathena.com/swords-dark.aspIf you told me to buy a Viking sword in the next five minutes for $250 I probably choose this one www.kultofathena.com/product.asp ... king+Sword Cold steel makes excellent quality Chinese swords that are made with high quality fittings and blades that have been overengineered to make them super durable and relatively safe even for doing unsafe swordplay like chopping down hardwood trees with repeated cuts like an axe. The only downside is that Coldsteel swords tend to be about half a pound heavier than their accurate historical counterparts because of the overengineering that has taken place. It doesn't matter though, if the sword is too heavy become stronger LOL! Half a pound is not really that big of a deal especially when you factor in the joy and exercise benefits of Lumberjackery. If forced to spend $500 on a Viking sword in the next five minutes I would probably go with this one (or try to cheat and buy two of the coldsteel swords instead): www.kultofathena.com/product.asp ... king+Sword Hanwei makes some good Chinese swords. They are maybe not the best quality fittings or well thought out accessories but has an extremely well tempered, durable blade. So I would trust them with a Viking sword, but I would probably not expect the same super high-quality as the ColdSteel, even on the sword that cost twice as much! Have fun and give a review after you choose, buy, and receive your selection.

Thanks for the reply. The Kult of Athena site looks really good. I will try to spend some time looking at all of the models that they have there.
