www.ebay.com/itm/Town-house-patt ... 1144363516 I find this sword has quite an interesting history and would like to know how durable it is for cutting . My main concern is the construction of the tang and grip which is most likely to be similar to Han Jian (hollow out handle with space and long narrow tang secured somewhere at the bottom cover by the disc) . I have read some where that it was not a coincident that this dao look similar to Burma and Thai Dha because either country send the dha as a gift to the emperor. Also it was possible that Yunan minority send the Dha as a gift to the emperor . The lack of pointy tip indicated that this sword is slash and cut weapon so I would assume that it would inherently durable enough to withstand impact during the cut. I have also another question ,Is this sword related to Da Dao ?

Hi. I had a look at the rest of this sellers offers and that turned me off greatly. What I see is the absolute underbelly of the market and I sure as hell am not cutting with this Dao. No words about heat treatment, no words about the tang. Looking at this sword with it's extreemly long grip I say you need a very, very sturdy tang or else this sword will surely break at the shoulder ( not a word or picture of that either) and you will wind up with that mean looking blade in your forehead. There are more reliable sellers on Ebay, look at the list published in a post here not to long ago. If you are short on $$ or in the ,,Must Have mood" my advise is to wait. Wait for this mood to pass so you can look critically at this piece. Do some research, do not be fazed by the deadline. There are a lot of these swords out there and a lot better too! Personaly I always do the Buy it Now thingy so no pushing and firing up my greed for me, if you get my drift. Save your $$ for a better one if you want to use it for cutting. For a wall hanger this is okay, but it would nag ME to have something on my wall that is of no practical use at all, is cheap looking with not much value in the craftmanship department either. No, wait. you can do better! Cheers, Ulahn

The construction of the tang is my big concern and I doubt the seller could be of any help with the info. I have read about the cylindical handle of Han Jain and I suspect that this one probably has same construction (it is probably cheap for them to crank out those round handle and cut to size and use with different type of sword ) .This type of sword is quite popular because I find 11 listing from $80 up to $1,900 price range. I think I better wait until some one put it through the cutting test ,may be SBG store will bring this one to the U.S. soon ? Until then I will cut with my trusty Da Dao and keep my forehead save from flying blade .
