Very interested to hear from others who have actually purchased from this ebay seller. So far my experience has been exceptional. Will update when I have sword in hand. Hard to get any info on them from independant sources.

You might mention which eBay seller you're referring to... there are more than one.

Asiaswords.. It's the topic. James. Lonquan China. I have recently purchased one of their folded and clay tempered colored blades with custom length and fittings. Waiting for it to arrive This forum mostly just says buyer beware about ebay, but they are getting hard to ignore as a buyer!

Pretty sure he means this one: stores.ebay.com/ASIASWORDSTypical ebayer, at first glance. Prices look good. Hope the OP will do a review once he has the goods in hand...

Looks ok. Prices are comparable to St. Nihonto, and a little cheaper than Hauwei. Some of the fittings and sayas from St. Nihonto looke better in my opinion.

This is typical generic low end Chinese budget forge stuff, the exact same swords are being sold by many other Chinese sellers, so these are just the typical cheap stuff that comes out of a big forge somewhere in Lonquan and sold to many EBay vendors.
If you want to figure which forge it is, you'll need to spend your time to do your own research, but this is in the same league as a lot of other questionable Ryansword grade swords.
I don't understand why newbies go and try these untested Chinese EBay vendrs of which there is hundreds, and who will never be reviewed because they're a dime a dozen and lots of them operate under many shopfronts even when they are a single business. You're basically buying a your own risk!
Seriously, you can choose where you buy from, the whole point of this forum is to tell you what's a good buy, and with the reviews done by members you know exactly what you're getting. The top EBay vendors from the reviews on SBG are Huawei and St-Nihonto, if you choose to ignore all the existing reviews, then you're on your own and you run the risk of getting inferior stuff or wasting your money.
If you want to get a swords from an unknown vendor out of curiosity, and review it to tell everyone about it here, then that's fine. Some guys tried out Habon swords/swordmaker 688 on Ebay and have been reasonably satisfied with the products at a very cheap price and reviewed them for others here.

Would really appreciate if we could stay on topic here. Opinions of people who HAVE purchased from this seller please. This whole site is dedicated to sub $300 functional swords right? Foe $270 delivered, with all the customisation I needed. This appeared to be the best deal (and best service) I could find for the money.

The point they're trying to make is that the unknown ebay vendors can be a coin toss when you get a katana from them. The only 3 well known one with good reputations are swordsmith688, st-nihonto, and huawei. Many of the swords found from this specific vendor reminisce ryansword and his many other clone page, and you might have ordered from one of those. Basically, what everyone is trying to say is that since you order from an unknown, rather suspicious vendor, we really can't tell if you get something worth that price or junk and everyone is giving their opinion on that matter

All due respect to everyone's opinion on unknown ebay sellers, please read rules of forum and mandate of site. Idea of this thread is to inform, will give full disclosure once sword arrives. Rest assured I am a first time customer with no affiliation.

Well yeah, you want to know how everyone feels about that seller and that's just everyone's opinion. Pretty sure they didn't do anything wrong that would invoke a reading of the forum's rule. You wanted to know opinion and that's what they gave, and if anyone else here have bought from that seller they would probably pitch in too. There is a general consensus of okay ebay vendors and what to look for when buying an ebay chinatana, and just based on the fact that a few swords that appear on this seller's store also appears in number in other seller stores gave it a suspicious look, and that's my opinion on it. I wouldn't want to be the first person ordering anything here, but if someone took a dive and give it a good review, I would probably test the water then too.

Swordmaker688 was in much the same boat earlier this year, now that several members have had good experiences Swordmaker688 is on the favoured list. You have to start somewhere and Asiaswords may be in the same boat.

Friendliest sword forum huh? New member asking for anyone else's ACTUAL experience from others, and I get accused of spamming, all because I only have good things to say (so far). I actually chose this vendor from advice given on this forum about buying from ebay. So to all of you who have given opinion without evidence I have this to say.... Do you have nothing better to do than troll anyone who has not purchased from you or your affiliated vendor?

Swords arrived today!
First impressions are good but a few minor issues.
Advice for anyone buying: go for the higher end saya if you want a koiguchi. Order matching sets all at once. More to follow!
