shcoked at the prices going for custom made scabbards. Is there more work that goes into making a scabbard than a sword as the ones albion sells are the same price if not more than alot of the swords they sell? any recomendations for cheaper custom made scabbards? didnt really want anything fancy, but i really want an albion sword and although its not important to me, i wouldnt want a sword with a scabbard....just dont like the idea of spending the same on a scabbard as I could on 1 or 2 quality swords

Tritonworks is your place. A basic wood core scababrd with decent suspension and a helathy dose of personalization should not set you back more than $250-300 and often times far less than that. Russ is a jewel to work with. www.tritonworks.com

I have a hard time justifying spending as much on the scabbard as on the sword, BUT that is a personal prejudice. Granted it's made by hand and all that, but still.......

I don't. Historically, scabbards would often cost near or sometimes even exceeding the cost of the sword.

Rammy's right. Especially in the mid to high middle ages, many times a fine wood core leather covered scabbard cost the equivalent of a decent or better sword.
Russ Ellis at Tritonworks is a great choice for a scabbard. But the wait is very long. Not sure what it is now. But when I got in line about 6-7 months ago he was quoting 18 months before I needed to send him my sword to get started.
Christian Fletcher is probably the best choice if you don't want to wait that long. His scabbards are truly works of art. They are totally custom. The wait is about 3-4 months and they start at $395.
If you are getting an Albion, you can try their Campaign Line scabbards. I have one each for my Knight and Count. They are extremely plain, and over-priced IMO. But you can get them at the same time as the sword. They cost $300. They're wood core, leather covered, and have a simple metal chape.

You could always make one, there is a really good duide over on Sword Forum International. Also from the guide it seems to be fairly strait forward once you have all the supplies together, I will try to find the link and post it.

I'm working on one of my own.The scabbards that came with my Windlass swords are really crappy, and leather only so i don't want to keep swords in them. After looking at prices and wait times, I decided to make my own. The first one is coming along slowly, because I keep getting sidetracked.. I have a felt lined wood core finished, and have the leather covering started. I'll put up a thread with lot's of pics when it's finished. ;D
