I just unpacked this and had to share. though this is not a sword I would normally write about on SBG Forum...I think you will see why I am excited about it. I was cruising around SFI a week or so ago and I stumbled across someone selling something that seemed too good to be true. But I felt compelled to inquire and make an offer. Checking the prices on the Christian Fletcher website, a basic leather covered wood core scabbard with metal chape and a fittings start at $395 and the waiting list is now about 5-6 months to start the project. So I figured a brand new condition scabbard like this is a steal for $200, right?... If so, please see my new $200 scabbard and my new $260 Angus Trim / Christian Fletcher custom Type XVIII sword!!! WOOHOO!!! ;D I know it's an older sword, built when these didn't cost nearly as much as they do now. And the design is probably a little out of date. But for me, this is one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. HOLY MOLY, who ever said bargain hunting sometimes pays off wasn't kidding.

Heh...an old sword for an old man. That's a beauty, brother. I am officially in a state of jealousy. Congrats on your acquisition.

You might have to clean the rust off first, it'll be so old.

Thanks guys. I did a little cutting with it today, and it handles superbly. Yep...that's about the only word I can think of right now...superb. ;D And don't hold your breath for me to get old and go into a nursing home. Just hope you get into my will. There will be a wake with open bar and food. All my closest friends will be gathered and they will take turns going though my stuff, each taking one item. Then repeat until it's all gone. I anticipate a rousing good time to be had by all. Too bad I won't be there to see it.

The sword truly is beautiful.
The hole sword has this tight and firm look to it. Like it has so much sword jammed into that little area.

Wow, I am impressed with your skills of assessing a sword from photos. Because that is exactly how it feels in hand. It's fairly heavy but very quick. It's like it's a bigger sword when you hit with it, but it handles so quick. Hard to describe, but you described it well.

This type of sword really isn't what I usually favor, but that sword looks neat! Congrats!
