Hey guys, I've been looking at many katanas for my first katana and I happened to come across these. I've looked at cold steels dragonfly katana and I love the colors and design, it really looks great, but its way out of my price range. I came across these on ebay, they let you customize your sword however you want in my price range (around $100 - $150) I only want this sword to cut like plastic bottles and as a nice display piece. I've looked at jubei, musashi, huawei, etc. But this is the first katana in my price range that i could customize to my liking. So please check out this link, they have plenty of other swords, but you can customize any one you like. www.ebay.com/itm/41-Handmade-Japanese ... 2c63724293 Arigato! Dave

It's a fairly basic sword, no hamon or anything. At this price range though, I'd rather go with Jubei/Musashi, especially with Musashi's Shirakawa line, which has alternating ito and a real hamon, though you don't get much customization. (also swordsmith668/688/Hanbon Swords is an okay seller, not fake or anything, you can find some reviews of them on the forums)

if you can afford to go a bit higher, I'd suggest kris cutlery.

I'll probably go with one of the damascus katanas, because the others appear to have a hamon. I really like the customize feature of a katana thats in my price range unless you guys think the swords are really bad.

Looks like a great sword and I like the way a guy can decide what things he wants added to the handle area....That truly makes the sword your own, and not just something you had to settle for.

Hey guys, I'm going to get one of these katanas. Im going to customize the one i get with black ray skin and c13 ito wrap (if you scroll down the page, you'll see it) but I can't decide which tsuba to go with. Forget the name of the swords, and what they look like now, just by looking at the tsuba, which do u guys think looks cooler? And does anyone think the tsuba in the first link on the sword looks girly cause it has flowers on it? Im stuck between these two. An suggestions? www.ebay.com/itm/Handmade-Japane ... 2ebdf1c6bc www.ebay.com/itm/1060-High-Carbo ... 2eba36a0e9 (this one isn't that actually sword i would get, but its what the tsuba looks like on the sword i want) Arigato Dave

Oh hanbon sword/swordsmith/swordmaker. They're blades are rather nice and we have a couple reviews on this forum. Not quiet as good as huawei but can compete with st-nihonto. Good luck

Hey guys, I think Im going to go with this sword. www.ebay.com/itm/Folded-Steel-Fu ... 2eb93ec8d1 I'm going to change the tsuba to AT23 cause the color fits better with the fuchi and menuki (shown in another pic in their store) unlike the brass one on it thats kinda a different color. Im going to have the R004 rayskin (black) and C14 ito and sageo (dark blue) and S10 saya (shiny black). I think the sword is gonna look great, can't wait till I get it (I have to wait till Christmas day ) I guess I'll put up a review when i get it and test it out. Thanks all for the help. You get what you pay for. I still have my Hanbon Swords katana. Just stay away from their Dao, Jian, and whatever the Hell that overpriced $700 sword was (if it's still listed).

Hey bros, So i was thinking about getting that folded aisi 1060 katana. However, I read on this page www.sword-manufacturers-guide.co ... teels.html that folded steels under $300 could actually be quite weak. So now I'm wondering if I should just go with a folded blade or just go with one of their normal 1060 carbon steel blades? I'll post a 2 links here, one of the folded 1060 and one of the normal 1060. Also another question, for first katana, do you recommend bohi or nohi. The quicker the response the better cause I'll probably be ordering it today. Normal 1060 carbon steel blade www.ebay.com/itm/1060-High-Carbo ... 2eba36a0e9 or Folded Aisi 1060 Carbon steel blade www.ebay.com/itm/Folded-Steel-Fu ... 2eb93ec8d1 Arigato DJ-san

The unfolded blade has a crap bo-hi termination. I'd go for the folded one. Here's my review on one of the Hanbon Folded Katana. Mine was more expensive, though, since it was DH. The one pictured in your link doesn't look like it'll have as well-polished a kissaki, though.
