Hello from the little country that is Austria!
So, I'm Lan and I live in Vienna and I'm a big fan of swords,
as you might have guessed.
I started out, influenced of course, by the strong presence of Japanese culture,
wit the Katana. I used to do Iaijutsu and Kenjutsu, an older form of iado and kendo as far as I understand,
but sadly had to stop out of time issues.
So naturally I bought an Iaito, which was actually a bit to bladeheavy,
because it was rather cheap. So I decided to buy a katana and let a professional blunt the edge of the blade.
That went very well and it is still my favourite sword. A cheap 150 € Paul Chen musashi katana, that never had a single problem, except that now, after 5 years of use, it has started to rattle a bit.
Anyway, I also own a hanwei bastard sword with an antiqued finish. I call him "my trusty basterd", als known as "the archenemy of the weeds". It's in near perfect condition even after beeing (succsesfully) used to split logs.
Finally there is my hanwei tai chi jian, I don't know the exact name, but it's the one with the wooden grip and scabbard. Not sharp of course, although I'm thinking about it^^.
Since I recently started stage fencing at my acting school, I am now looking in this direction for a new acquisition, most probably a rapier.
I'm really looking forward yo get to know the SBG community and share information about or common love, the sword. I hope I can contribute something useful once in a while.
Cheers or as we say in Austria: Servaas!
