Got my Battle Gim yesterday and fired up a nice review! Impressive sword with good weight that I like! Honestly, if it is a 3lb guy I would have liked it more. But anyway, it's must better than the Jade Lion and the Gim Sword overall. The wood is high class stuff and the damascus is another well mirror polish blade with subtle pattern but this pattern is more obvious than the Jade Lion and the mirror have a coat of mist over it kinda thing which is kinda "foggy like" and it shows the pattern very well. I touch up the blade with 2000 grit sandpaper now and it is abit more shiny but still have that misty layer there which is cool. The pattern is easily seen by looking at the sword directly already while the Jade Lion require some lighting work to get it out. Cool sword. For those of you who think the handle is a problem? No way man, see me in action! It's VERY good handling except for the silly tassel.. but it's easy to get it out and re-loop it with a paper clip or something like that. Not that bad~ For GREAT photos.. here we go! www.taoistmasterblog.com/cold-st ... -new-2012/ Enjoy and let me know what you think! The thing comes very sharp too, super nice finish and sharpened better than the Jade Lion, cleaner edge!

Nice review!
I have been wondering about this sword for a while now, looks like it handles pretty well. I like the dark fittings, and the fact that it looks really solid.
I have to admit when I first saw the sword i was wondering if the round handle would be comfortable to hold and swing the sword, looks like you did fine with it.
so, out of the three cold steel swords which do you like best?

Yeah I know, the handle is a big thing that many dislike at first glance. But honestly, I think the handling is even way better than the GIM sword's handle! It gives you a solid and define sense of position on the grip and it is actually very good when it comes to doing the flowers and thrusting, really secure sense of grip!
The reason for black fittings can also related to 5 elements - black and blue is color of WATER element, which give birth to the "spring" (WOOD) element, making it a nice flow of energy with the theme as well. LOL! I doubt CS know about this, but it's what I can explain to make it better for good sales, hahahah!
Honestly, I like all of the CS swords for their own character.
Battle Gim is great for my own preference for the heavy blade, really sturdy and great confidence booster man, you really will love it if you enjoy welding heavy blades. It's really a battle like sword, You need a few oz more to be "really good" but now it is okay for most people already, I think. This is a power sword, a power tool without a plug! You really will love this one if you can weld it naturally.
The Jade Lion is really good for it's light and fast blade character. Sometimes when I am not in the mood for heavy stuff, I would like something light and fast but doesn't take away the good handling characteristics. This sword give me the kind of feeling that I have to dig into details with my moves, precision and speed is what this sword is about. It's like craving on a diamond, every moves must be delicate, precise and clean. Nice vibe to tune your mind up for details and deeper understanding of your own skills!
The GIM Sword is a good one for it's casual usage, really, sometimes you don't want to pull out your nice blade to smack on trees and bottles or something right? This is the one I will always pull out. If people challenge me to a battle, I will pull out this one first for sure, at least I don't get HURT by getting the scratches, hahaha! But yeah, the handling is really like build for all styles in generals, no matter what style you do, this sword will fit your taste. It's a one-for-all thing more than a sword with it's own style.
Again, as the old saying "get them all" is the ultimate answer for sure. But to choose one out of the three? For myself - I choose Battle Gim because I like POWER TOOLS without plugs!

The blade actually looks like it handles pretty nice. the blade movements look really fluid. I won't lie I thought the sword was kinda unattractive and cumbersome looking when I first saw the pictures on the cold steel website, now that I see it in action I might need to get one of these in the near future. you are like free advertising for cold steel heheh.
side note: I watched your other video with the multiple sword test on the computer and I almost freaked out when I thought that flexible sword stabbed through it. that was pretty funny.

Hahhahahahaha! Yeah I wish Cold Steel can pay me for it then I can do extremely good write up for their website to promote their swords. I think their way to explain the wen jian and wu jian is extremely crappy and I just wanna make that clear to people so bad. LOL! If you can call the CS GIM a wu jian, you really don't know what a real wu jian looks like, hahaha! The battle gim is much more like it! But still, lacking abit more weight, I think a 3lb to 3lb2oz sword is good for a wu jian since a soldier is for sure well conditioned to fight anyway. Like saying a soldier think a beretta 92FS is too heavy for carry is just like a super big joke. They must be conditioned enough to take it, right? Or else they won't be soldiers.. haha!
I like CS for their promotion, all those brutal test they do and so on.. make me confident to buy their products. At least I am getting what's shown on the video, which is good enough. Hanwei need more test to convince people to buy man.. haha.. I can't even feel their swords can cut from the reviews I read.
Oh yeah! That flexi-sword ALMOST stabbed thru the computer eh? HAHAHAHAA! I don't even know it stabbed in the same hole! That's just a big silly fluke! Man.. if I can stab thru the computer with it, that will be not a proof of the sword, it's a proof of my CHI POWER instead, LOL!!!! Probably the sword is held by Jet Li, and edited in the computer editing software too, hahahaha!
