Today I pulled out my pudao again and start to work on the edge abit with the old school way. Nothing fancy or crazy but just don't like the edge being too blunt. See this video for the BEFORE edge. It's sharp to the point that it "CAN" cut paper but you need some skills to do it, not easy.
After cutting some stuff, the edge can't even cut paper already, bad...
So I took out my benchstone and wanted to make a video of it while I do my sharpening. I know I am not a pro but at least I made it to make the edge WORK! I am happy! See my sharpening and results!
The video doesn't show the final results though. I did a lot more work on it and formed a convex edge later on, then I use a 800 grit sandpaper to polish up the silver parts and the grooves, made the mmore shiny and smooth, touch up the edge as well with that and made it even better for cutting, more durable.. After that, I try again and the cutting ability is SO GOOD. It can cut a letter size paper in half vertically with one stroke! NICE! It's also good on hard objects as well, the edge is so strong and so durable. Now I am loving it! Love the blade also come with a cover to cover the sharp edge too, so cool.
Hope you like my vid!
Enjoy a form done with the blade as well!
I love doing kungfu in compact space, especially large and long weapons. It not only is practical but also train your distance judgement and sense of space as well. This also not limit you to only practice outside.. specially in Canada, if you live in an apartment, you really don't want to take your weapons outside to a park or something to cause people's attention much. I tried to bring a kwan dao down to the park and I am already about to start a street show with many people standing and watching, hahaha.. so doing it home is better for me!
